Where Does My Donation Go? Discover the Real Impact You’re Making

By CASFB Impact Team
When you click Donate, you’re not just giving money. You’re giving hope, stability, and nourishment to individuals and families in our local Utah, Wasatch, and Summit communities. One of the most common questions we receive is,
“Where does my money actually go?”
First, what happens when you donate?
Depending on our community’s most urgent needs at that time, your donation is used to support local programs that fight poverty and hunger, including food assistance, homeless prevention, community gardens, and self-reliance education:
Emergency Food Assistance & Pantry Programs
Donations are critical to our food program operations. Whether it’s used to purchase food in bulk, supply Kid Nutrition Packs to 30+ schools, or fill pantry shelves, your donation helps feed families who would otherwise go without.
- $25 can provide up to 100 meals
- $50 supports 200 meals
- $100 supports direct need and operational cost to keep the pantries running
Homeless Prevention & Housing Assistance
Your donation may also help keep families in their homes. With your donation, we can fund rent or utility assistance for individuals at risk of homelessness. We also provide classes about eviction prevention and financial literacy. This part of our work is critical for overcoming intergenerational poverty, knowledge, and behavior cycles and ensuring long-term stability.
Community Gardens & Food Education
You help us grow — literally! Donations support our four community gardens in Provo and Spanish Fork, where we teach gardening skills and provide space to families to grow their own fresh vegetables
Self-Reliance Programs
Our Circles initiative and financial literacy classes empower families break the cycle of poverty through meaningful relationships, community support, and education. Your support funds educational curriculum, mentorship, and critical case management so that individuals can build lasting independence.
Operational Support
As a mission-driven organization, there are costs to doing business that your donations support. They allow us to pay competitive wages so we have the staff to provide our programs without high turnover or vacancies that limit us from providing services to those who need them.
The three-sector representation on our board (public sector, private sector, and those with lived experience in poverty) provides oversight ensuring donations are spent responsibly and efficiently.
Every dollar stays local. When you give to Community Action Services and Food Bank, you’re investing in your neighbors: real people with real stories, facing real challenges.
We encourage you to check out our Impact Report, which breaks down exactly how many people we served in 2024 across all our programs.
Your compassion fuels our mission. Whether you give once or monthly, volunteer, or advocate — you’re part of a community that believes no one should go hungry or feel hopeless. We are a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your donation is always tax-deductible.
Be a part of something bigger…
When you give monthly, you’re not just donating—you’re investing in long-term change.
