Commercial Kitchen
Are you interested in the food industry and looking to start your own business? Community Action Services has a commercial kitchen for use by moderate or low-income community members seeking to establish their own food business. The commercial kitchen may be used for food preparation, though no seating or restaurant-style serving area is available. However, customers may pick up their orders from the kitchen during your hours of use, as take-out.
While Community Action Services ensures the commercial kitchen meets all health and safety regulations, you are responsible for ensuring you have the proper food-handler permit, food service permit, and required general liability insurance. The kitchen simply supplies the space necessary to prepare the food. Also, in order to use the kitchen, you must provide a detailed business plan along with information about the financing necessary to purchase your supplies and cooking utensils.
The fees for the commercial kitchen are on a sliding scale, based on the amount of time you use the kitchen as well as your ability to pay. As your business continues to grow and prosper, you may negotiate rates with Community Action Services for continued extensive use of the commercial kitchen facilities. Rent is due monthly by the tenth.
