Advocacy

Individuals can end hunger in America by advocating, participating in National Hunger Awareness Day, raising awareness, sponsoring an event, and volunteering

Each day, individuals make a difference by fighting hunger in their communities, and we need more people like you to join in this effort. Below are some suggestions for how you and other individuals can participate in National Hunger Awareness Day 2005.

Advocate

  • Learn more here on how you can get involved to advocate around the issues of poverty and hunger:

  • Advocate for hungry Americans. Communicate the importance of addressing hunger in your community to state and federal elected officials. Write Your Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and/or U.S. Senators with the America's Second Harvest's Network Hunger Action Center.

Raise Awareness

  • Send an email to coworkers, classmates, friends and family on National Hunger Awareness Day with a link to www.hungerday.org, remind them that there are people combating hunger in communities nationwide.

Sponsor an Event

  • Host a food drive for Community Action Services Food Bank at work, school, church, neighborhood center or club. Be sure to contact us in advance to ensure we are prepared for your food drive delivery.

Volunteer

  • Join Community Action Services in coordinating National Hunger Awareness Day activities.
  • Organize a group of co-workers, classmates, friends or family members to volunteer at Community Action Services Food Bank.
